NOW SERVING OC, Inland Empire & LOS ANGELES
No other company in Inland Empire & Orange County offers you a total package of energy smart measures. We provide insulation, air conditioning service PLUS a FREE Home Energy Audit. We believe in conservation of energy as the best path to savings and comfort. We are not a single service provider.
Unlike many single service providers (insulation companies, air conditioning companies, window companies, we are a licensed general, insulation and HVAC contractor that ensures that we review and analyze each system within your home to identify the specific improvements needed to maximize your home's performance. In most cases, a single service provider may only have the ability and motivation to identify and recommend improvements within their limited area of potentially resulting in unneeded expensive repair that truly don’t address the root cause of the efficiency issue.
Insulation
Utilizing recommended level of insulation in your walls, attic, and floor is your main defense against heat gain in the summer and heat loss in the winter seasons. Having the correct amount of insulation enhances your home’s thermal performance reducing heating-cooling costs, improving comfort and reducing noise levels.
What many contractors and homeowners are not aware of is that there is a direct relationship between insulation and other components of the home such as: framing, plumbing, electrical and architectural layout. When this relationship does not make the grade, which is extremely common, the effectiveness of the insulation is compromised. A failure rate of just 5% will reduce the effectiveness of your insulation up to half.
Duct Sealing
According to the U.S. Department of Energy, the average duct system loses anywhere from 20% to 40% of your heating and cooling through duct leakages. Air distribution ducts are a sequence of connecting pipes and hard ducts that deliver warm and cool air to your living space to uphold a comfortable temperature within your home. Typically, most ductwork is hidden in the attic or crawl space, thus costly leaks go undetected.
Door weatherization & Building Envelope Sealing
The home building envelope is essentially the air conditioned, livable space in your home. According to many energy studies over the years, air infiltration (air entering and leaving the building envelope) can consume a considerable amounts of energy used for heating and cooling. Drafty homes not only waste energy/cash but make it almost impossible to maintain desired comfort levels.
Air leaks typically occur in the:
· Door sashes and frames
· Attic access
· Chimney and fireplaces
· Recessed lighting
· Electrical and plumbing penetrations
· Drop ceilings
· Windows
HVAC System Upgrade
Heating and cooling our homes accounts for the largest single component of our energy costs (over 40%), installing a highly efficient heating and air conditioning system is a smart improvement reducing utility and annual maintenance expenses. A gas furnace has an “AFUE” (Annual Fuel Utilization Efficiency) rating which is a measure of the gas furnace’s efficiency in converting fuel to energy – the higher the rating, the more efficient the unit.
A central air conditioning unit has a “SEER” (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio) rating, which is a measure of cooling efficiency for air conditioners and heat pumps. The higher the SEER, the more efficient the unit performs. Older units typically have a SEER rating around 8 with newer units having a SEER rating as high as 21. A 16 SEER unit will use 50% less electricity than an 8 SEER unit.
Lighting
Swaping out all of your standard incandescent lighting to compact fluorescent lighting (CFL) is one of the fastest and easiest ways to save energy. CFL’s use 75% - 85% less electricity and last 8 to 10 times longer than incandescent bulbs.
Incandescent bulbs produce a significant amount of heat which causes the air conditioning systems to run significantly longer to cool the house. The heat can also create uncomfortable conditions in the home.
Windows
Replacing windows with low-E and high U-value windows is the ideal solution but is not always practical for most budgets. There are window treatments such as sunscreens, film treatments and sealing methods which can minimize the negative effect of older windows
